Originating in the small urban community in Country Club Crest, Vallejo, Ca. It is now recognized worldwide.  Communities, friends and family gather together to take part in a family style picnic memorial celebration in honor of slain loved ones.

The organizers of the Gaines Day Celebration invites you, the community and anyone else to join us in our efforts.  "It’s about accepting the pain, releasing the rage, incorporating sound family values for the next generation and bringing the community back together.” Stated Minister Joseph Armstrong President of the Gaínes Day Celebration. He goes on to say "It's not easy to have an event in honor of slain loved ones but our slain loved ones are the ones thats guiding us. Which is why this year's theme is: Keeping it Saucy meaning; in spite of what you are going through keep your Head Up.  #KeepitSaucy  #HappyGainesDay"

The Gaínes Day event is an effort to build urban community relations and to speak out against violence.  There will be speakers regarding senseless violence in our community followed by a moment of symbolic rage for those that are no longer with us. "After that we have plenty of fun, food and lots of entertainment Da Crest Got Talent Ughh!! but real talk whats most important is that this event benefits the children of slain loved ones," says Quanika Jones, Vice president of the Gaines Day Celebration.
